When the National African American Multiple Sclerosis Registry (NAAMS)approached Emiko Design Studio, they were ready to evolve beyond their original scope. Their work had grown from a US-focused registry into an international research coalition addressing MS disparities across the globe—but their name no longer reflected that expanded mission.
Through our BrandSpark process, we uncovered the need for a complete strategic repositioning. The rebrand included renaming the organization to BICOMS (Black International Coalition for MS Research)—a name that honors their global reach, collaborative approach, and the full scope of Black communities they serve worldwide.
The new identity system balances medical professionalism with approachability, establishing BICOMS as a credible, authoritative voice in the MS research community while maintaining cultural specificity. Every brand touchpoint—from the refined visual identity to the strategic messaging—positions them alongside established research institutions while honoring their unique perspective and mission.
